Declaration
Applying for a government post, a teaching job or a private-sector role in Meghalaya? Your resume is usually the first thing an employer sees, so it’s worth getting right. A clear, accurate one makes your qualifications easy to spot.
Our free Resume Builder helps you put your details, education, skills, and experience into a tidy format. Before you start, though, check what the job actually asks for. Many government recruitments want a prescribed application form or biodata, while private employers usually accept a normal CV. The official notice always comes first.
Create your resume in six steps
- Open the Resume Builder. Go to our Free Resume Builder.
- Gather your information. Keep your certificates, job history, and contact details nearby.
- Type in your details. Type in your details. Ensure they match your certificates exactly.
- Read it through. Check spelling, dates, qualifications, and phone number.
- Download it. Save your resume. If the employer wants a PDF, open the file and confirm it looks right.
- Compare it with the advertisement. Make sure it covers what the job asks for.
A resume builder helps with presentation. It can’t replace an official application form, and it doesn’t make you eligible or get you selected.
Government biodata vs. private-sector resume
This document is a general guide. If the notice says something different, follow it.
| Government recruitment | Private-sector jobs | |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Often a prescribed form or biodata | Usually a CV or resume |
| Personal details | Whatever the form asks for | Contact and professional details |
| Education | Institution, marks and dates as required | Highlight relevant qualifications. |
| Experience | Details plus supporting documents if asked | Responsibilities, skills, and results |
| Category or domicile | Provide when needed for eligibility. | Only if relevant or requested |
Important: Some government recruitments don’t accept a resume in place of their form. Please read the notification before applying.
What to put in your resume
1. Contact information
Your name, phone number, email, and town (Shillong, Tura, Jowai, or wherever you live). Add date of birth, category, or domicile only if the recruitment asks for them.
Sample layout:
Your Full Name · 98XXXXXXXX · yourname@email.com · Shillong, Meghalaya
2. Career objective or summary
Two or three short sentences on who you are and the role you want. For example, a recent graduate might write:
Recent graduate with strong written communication, document preparation, and computer skills, looking for an entry-level administrative role.
Change the wording to fit your own background and the vacancy. Only mention skills you really have.
3. Educational qualifications
List the most recent first. For each one, include the qualification, the institution or board, the year, and marks if they’re required.
| Qualification | Institution | Year |
|---|---|---|
| Bachelor’s degree | Name of university | Year completed |
| HSSLC (Class 12) | Name of board or school | Year completed |
| HSLC (Class 10) | Name of board or school | Year completed |
Use the exact names and dates on your certificates.
4. Work experience
Write down the employer, dates, and main duties, and focus on what’s relevant to the job. If you’re a fresher, don’t invent a work history. Academic projects, internships, volunteering, and training all count.
5. Skills and languages
List skills you can actually demonstrate, such as data entry, computer applications, report writing, or teaching. If you speak Khasi, Garo, Pnar, or another language, say how well you speak, read, and write it. Language requirements differ between jobs, so please review the notice before assuming one is needed.
6. Certificates and extra training
Add only what you’ve completed. If the employer asks for supporting documents, follow their instructions on how to submit them.
Three tips for Meghalaya job seekers
Keep the layout simple. Use clear headings, consistent dates, and a readable font. Simple formats are less likely to break when uploaded to an online recruitment system, though no template guarantees that.
Match your resume to the vacancy. Read the advertisement and take note of what the employer is looking for. A teaching applicant should lead with qualifications and classroom experience; an office job applicant should highlight computer skills and documentation.
Review everything twice. Look for wrong dates, typos, and leftover text from an older application. If a PDF is needed, give it a clear name, such as Your-Name-Resume.pdf.
[Add one real tip from your own experience here, for example, a mistake you often see in applications you’ve reviewed.]
Need to convert documents to PDF?
Some portals ask for certificates or photographs as PDFs. If you have images, our Image to PDF Converter can help. Check the file type, size limit, and naming rules in the notice first, since converting a file doesn’t guarantee the portal will accept it.
Frequently asked questions
Is a resume the same as a government biodata form?
Not always. Some recruiters want their own form; others want a CV. Follow the instructions in the notice.
Should I include my date of birth and category?
Yes, include them if the employer or application form asks. Don’t assume every employer wants them.
Should I mention Khasi, Garo, or Pnar?
List the languages you truly speak, read, and write, and verify whether the job requires a particular one.
What should freshers include?
Education, relevant skills, academic projects, internships, training, and volunteering. Only include work experience that’s real.
Should I submit a PDF?
Use whatever format the employer asks for. If it’s a PDF, open the downloaded file and make sure the text is readable and the layout is intact.
Does a resume builder guarantee a job?
No. It helps you present your information, but selection depends on your eligibility, experience, an accurate application, and the employer’s process.
Ready to start?
Open the Free Resume Builder, fill in your details, and tailor the result to the job. For government vacancies, read the official notice first and fill in any required form separately.
